Worksop teenager spends lockdown setting up her own business

During the lockdown, a mother and her daughter decided to set up their own small business called Winnipigs Wax.
They make and sell pig-shaped max welts which are a popular alternative to candles for home fragrance.

Hide Ad“We bought a wax making kit just for something to do during lockdown but we really enjoyed doing it so Grace suggested starting our own little business.”
Grace Youngs is 15 years old and is the creative mastermind behind the project.
She picked the scents, chose the pig wax melt shape, and designed the logo and website.

Hide AdThe young artist has had her previous work on display at The Harley Gallery.
“Most teens have just been sitting around a lot of the time during the lockdown.
“The world is really crazy right now and she’s putting her energy into doing something productive that she loves.”
Grace has been balancing the wax melt business with her school work which she has not let slip due to her new venture.

Hide AdShe is putting any money raised aside towards buying her first car in a couple of years.
“We already have a really close relationship but we’ve enjoyed having a laugh together making the melts and sharing a creative outlet.”
Lucy says that the new business is helping Grace overcome social anxiety which she suffers from and hopes to take their melts to craft fairs when they open back up.
The new business got its name from a family dog named Winston but fondly known as Winni who snores like a pig.

Hide AdThe duo also recently did a raffle to raise money for the Mayflower Sanctuary, they managed to raise £42.
All of the wax melts are vegan and come in eco-friendly packaging.
