Worksop: Top GCSE results at Outwood Academy Portland
A high percentage of students at the academy achieved the very difficult new performance measure of five A*-C grades including English, Maths and now a further GCSE with only a maximum of two vocational results counting.
Head teacher, Dr Philip Smith, said: “I am absolutely over the moon that we hit a 76% pass rate in English and Maths.”

Hide AdNationally, it was predicted that number of pupils achieving the five A*-C GCSE standard would fall but this did not materialise. However, GCSE English suffered its biggest drop since the creation of the qualification 25 years ago with C grade or above passes falling from 63.6 per cent to 61.7 per cent.
Dr Smith dedicated the impressive performance to hardworking staff and students.
He said: It’s down to outstanding teaching day in day out, for every single lesson and students that are so committed and so hardworking.”
“It all comes together and in the end results just keep getting better and better.”
